Types of Alopecia
- Alopecia Areata -
An autoimmune condition where the immune system attacks hair follicles, causing sudden, patchy hair loss on the scalp or body. Treatments often include corticosteroid injections, topical solutions, or oral medications to encourage regrowth.
- Trichotillomania -
A compulsive disorder where a person repeatedly pulls out their own hair, leading to uneven hair loss. Treatment often involves behavioral therapy, stress management, and sometimes medication.
- Alopecia Universalis -
The most advanced form of alopecia areata, causing total loss of hair on the scalp and body. Treatments focus on immune-modulating therapies, though regrowth can be unpredictable.
- Telogen Effluvium -
A temporary shedding of hair triggered by stress, illness, surgery, or hormonal changes. Hair usually regrows once the underlying cause is addressed.
- Androgenetic Alopecia -
